BREAKING: Bay stumbles in playoff opener, Faith marches on

February 24, 2011
Williams Bay -- All season long, the Williams Bay boys basketball squad has struggled to find the bottom of the net on a consistent basis. On Tuesday night in a WIAA Division 5 regional opener against University Lake School, the Bulldogs had a slightly bigger problem on their hands — Lakers junior Conor Kelly. The Bay didn't have an answer for Kelly, who scored 18 of his game-high 33 points in the second half to help University Lake cruise to a 64-51 victory. The Bay finished 7-16 for the season. The Bulldogs trailed only 33-26 at halftime, but a 19-12 third quarter helped the Lakers pull away. Bay coach Troy Nottestad said his team struggled to score the ball.

Madison -- Badger junior wrestler Ed Ruzga didn't disappoint in his first state match Thursday afternoon in Madison. Sports Check: A semi-pro football tryout

January 20, 2011
Everything about Sunday morning was unorthodox. It started with me, a 28-year-old, mostly out of shape, former quarterback, waking up at the crack of dawn and driving 30 minutes to Williams Bay from Burlington. What I did at Williams Bay High School at 9 a.m. was for the love of journalism but could be construed by outsiders as straight-up crazy.
