Sex offender faces charges for jail incident

September 01, 2011
ELKHORN — A registered sex offender who allegedly recently sexually assaulted an elderly, wheelchair bound woman at a Christian campus for disabled adults faces another misdemeanor charge for an incident that occurred while he was locked up in the Walworth County Jail. Bobby L. Byers, 45, who has been convicted numerous times for exposing himself, allegedly flashed a female inmate inside of the jail, according to court documents. Acting Jail Administrator John Delaney said the female inmate was speaking to a correctional officer at a desk, which oversees multiple areas of the jail — including some of the male housing units — at the time of the incident.
