Processing server faces felonies

ELKHORN — A 40-year-old processing server faces criminal charges after he allegedly falsely reported serving two individuals legal documents. Randy L. Ruegg, 1123 Sheridan Road, has been charged with two felony counts of forgery of an official certification. If convicted, he faces up to 12 years imprisonment and $20,000 in fines.

Men face charges after Delavan home invasion

September 20, 2012
Two men are accused of firing a weapon near a man's head during a Jan. 28 home invasion in the city of Delavan. During the incident, the man was downstairs, and his girlfriend and baby were upstairs. Adrian Valadez, 23, 328 1/2 E. Walworth Ave., Apt. 4, Delavan, has been charged with attempted armed robbery, armed burglary, first-degree recklessly endangering safety, two counts of false imprisonment with the use of a dangerous weapon and a misdemeanor charge of battery.

Pit bulls attack deputies

SUGAR CREEK — A 40-year-old man was arrested Sept. 22 after his pit bulls attacked two Walworth County Sheriff's deputies as they attempted to take him into custody. Daniel White was arrested and charges against him have been referred to the Walworth County's District Attorney's Office for trespassing, battery to a police officer, resisting arrest, failure to comply with an officer and disorderly conduct. At about 12:38 p.m., Walworth County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a report of disorderly man who was on a woman's property at Oak Lane in the town of Sugar Creek. The 56-year-old woman alleges that White made threatening comments to two juvenile girls that were on her property.

Pell Lake man faces sexual assault charges

September 20, 2012
A 29-year-old Pell Lake man is accused of twice having sex with a 13-year-old girl during the summer. Ricky Cervantes, N1205 Hemlock Road, has been charged with repeated sexual assault of a child. If convicted, he faces up to 25 years imprisonment and 15 years of extended supervision.

Bloomfield couple pleads not guilty to child abuse charges

September 20, 2012
ELKHORN — The Bloomfield Township couple accused of multiple counts of child abuse against their adopted children pleaded not guilty Sept. 19 to all of the charges, and their attorneys want the case dismissed. The attorneys for Martin, 49, and Kathleen O'Brien, 50, have recently filed motions to dismiss the charges against their clients for violating their right to due process. Assistant District Attorney Diane Donohoo has until Oct. 19 to respond to the motions, and a hearing is set for Nov. 21.
