Former coach McKinley sentenced for sexual assault

A former Williams Bay JV basketball coach was sentenced this afternoon to 10 years in prison for a sexual relationship he had with a student. After serving the prison sentence, Shane S. McKinley, 28, now of Texas, will spend five years on extended supervision. He also must register as a sex offender. During an emotional hearing, two girls talked about having a sexual relationship with McKinley when they were underage. The girls said McKinley was verbally abusive and manipulating.

Man gets probation after biting officer

A 34-year-old Lake Geneva man, who bit a town of Geneva police officer in the hand Oct. 1 at Mercy Walworth Medical Center, was sentenced April 10 to three years of probation. Dennis R. Coulman, 1165 S. Wells St. No. 5, pleaded guilty Feb. 13 to felony bail jumping and battery to law enforcement officers. As a condition of his probation, Coulman must serve nine months in jail with work-release privileges. The judge also ordered Coulman to pay $25,988 in restitution. ...subscribers>>

Man faces marijuana charge

A 21-year-old Waukegan, Ill., man faces four felony marijuana charges. Matthew C. Oliva was arrested after he allegedly sold the drug to a confidential informant in the city of Lake Geneva. Oliva faces three felony counts of delivering marijuana and one count of possession of marijuana with intent to deliver. Lake Geneva man guilty of heroin possession

A 27-year-old Lake Geneva man was sentenced to two years of probation April 19 after he pleaded guilty to a felony charge of possession of a narcotic drug. Ryan G. Lempel, 801 S. Wells St., Upper Unit, also pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of resisting or obstructing an officer. As a condition of his probation, Lempel was sentenced to three months in jail with work-release privileges and ordered to complete 160 hours of community service. ...subscribers>>

Delavan man sentenced to jail for theft

A 20-year-old Delavan man was sentenced to four months in jail with work release privileges for his role in thefts from the East Delavan Union Cemetery Association. Matthew O. Soukup, 706 Faryl Ave., No. 12, also was sentenced to 40 hours of community service, which he already completed. Soukup is eligible to have his record expunged if he successfully completes his sentence. He pleaded guilty to a felony charge of identity theft for financial gain. Soukup's grandmother, Sandra A. Walworth man faces child pornography charge

A 25-year-old Walworth man is accused of possessing child pornography and displaying the contraband online through his web cam. Parker G. Voltz, 318 Howard St., has been charged with two counts of possession of child pornography and one count of sexual exploitation of a child. Each charge of possession of child pornography carries a maximum sentence of 25 years imprisonment and $100,000 in fines. The charge also carries a minimum penalty of three years of initial confinement.

WHITEWATER — A 26-year-old Whitewater man was in the Walworth County jail on Monday following a two-car crash in the town of Whitewater on Saturday evening. Jeremy B. Colberg has been arrested and charges are being referred to the Walworth County District Attorney’s Office for the following: Operating while intoxicated (third offense), four counts of causing great bodily harm — operating while intoxicated, open intoxicants in a motor vehicle, inattentive driving and failure to yield right of way while making a left turn.Additionally, the Department of Corrections-Division of Probation and Parole has placed a hold on Colber following this crash. Colberg was on parole for a prior drug arrest conviction.
Pell Lake man charged with wife’s death

CHICAGO (AP) — A retired engineer was charged Friday with first-degree murder in the death of his wife — 13 years after she drowned in the bathtub of the couple’s home in suburban Chicago.Frank Buschauer, 64, who was arrested near his home in Pell Lake, appeared in a Cook County courtroom in Rolling Meadows on Friday, where a judge ordered him held without bail, according to a news release from the county’s state’s attorney’s office.Buschauer is charged in the Feb. 28, 2000, death of 47-year-old Cynthia Hrisco in the couple’s home in South Barrington.
Pastor found not guilty

ELKHORN — A Walworth County jury cleared a former pastor of any wrongdoing after law enforcement officials accused him of failing to notify authorities of sexual assaults occurring between young boys.Joseph R. Fultz, 49, now of Milton, was the pastor at Grace Evangelical Church in the village of Walworth. Prosecutors said underage parishioners at the church engaged in sexual activity amongsst themselves. No adults are suspected, or were ever accused, of having sexual contact with children. Certain professionals, social workers, teachers and members of the clergy are legally required to report suspected child abuse or neglect. Authorities said Fultz knew of the allegations of sexual misconduct and needed to notify law enforcement.Defense attorney Michael Witt, who represented Fultz in the case, didn’t return a phone message to the Regional News for comment. Assisant District Attorney Haley Rea shared her thoughts about why the jury may have reached its verdict.

The other suspect is awaiting a sentencing and is facing a lengthy stay in a penitentiary. The two men pointed a firearm at a woman while trying to steal drugs and money, according to the criminal complaints.In August, a woman reported to police that two men entered her home on Snake Road and said “give us the weed” and “give us the money.”
