September 11, 2012 | 01:43 PMWe are nearly a week into voting for the Chase Community Giving grant opportunity. Every vote is a vote in support of poverty relief. This would be a wonderful opportunity for our charity, The Time Is Now to Help and bring poverty relief to more of our fellow Americans.
A $250,000 grant, such as the top prize in the Chase Community Giving grant, would mean a lot to our organization The Time Is Now to Help.
When CNN approached us and I felt too humbled to even accept their nomination, yet they persisted, I began to dream what wonderful things we could do for those in desperate need with those funds.
"We" brought our organization from a local non-profit that anonymously provided shelter, utilities, food, car repairs, gas, toiletries, daily necessities, for years, to an international news network, showing our good works to help those in desperate need. Demonstrating how we could indeed make a positive difference in those around us suffering in the pains of poverty.
Much of what The Time Is Now to Help accomplishes is not published in the newspaper, posted on Facebook, or sent out in emails.
We share with you one column a week sharing our works to improve the lives of our fellow creations struggling to survive, due to job loss, illness, age or disability. There are so many more we help each week that do not even get a mention in the newspaper.
There is so much more help you do not ever read about or get to view in a post or catchy YouTube. We honor our recipients need for privacy and do not share their most private, painful moments.
What we can share is the gratitude felt when we remove the shame of homelessness, pain of hunger, and fear of losing a job due to lack of transportation.
The thankful tears of a senior citizen that has to choose between meals, rent, utilities or medical care. The appreciation shown by a single mother or disabled fellow creation that has been able to reinstate their utilities due to our assistance. This week alone we reinstated utilities for two families.
Rent was paid for five families with children and emergency housing for a homeless woman was provided.
We also helped the homeless woman move out of state to her family where she had a job waiting. All the families were provided with food, gas gift cards and toiletries.
Two beds and bedding were provided for another family along with gas cards for job transportation. Car repairs and tires were provided for a senior citizen's car.
We can only continue to dream of what we could accomplish with the Chase Community Giving grant....The needs throughout our communities are great.
There are many worthy charities trying to make a difference in our world. The Time Is Now to Help will continue to make a difference one fellow creation at a time.
And the assistance given that one fellow creation is shared by the many family members and friends that see the change brought into their lives.
Together, we remove the pain and suffering of poverty. Together we provide hope and compassion...works that our Lord is proud of, caring and sharing, making a big difference in the lives of many.
If you are a Facebook user or Chase online banking customer you can vote for The Time Is Now to Help until Sept. 19, 2012. You are given two votes but can only use one of your votes for The Time Is Now to Help.
Another organization that has been doing wonderful work in our area is Fellow Mortals Wildlife Hospital and they have been nominated for a Chase Community Giving grant as well.
They would appreciate your vote in support of their organization. Your votes will determine if either one or both of us receive the grants being offered by Chase Community Giving.
While we hope and pray that we receive one of these grants, knowing what the assistance we could provide with these funds would mean to our fellow Americans struggling in poverty, we also are very grateful for the support we receive from you, our donors.
We could not continue to do these good works without your generosity and love shown for the senior citizens, handicapped, children, and families turning to The Time Is Now to Help for a helping hand. Once again, together we make our world a better place doing God's good works.
Health and Happiness, God bless everyone, W.C./Sal
