Where the donations went

December 24, 2012 | 12:35 PM
A huge thank you to The Richard H. Driehaus Charitable Lead Trust and all who donated to the $30,000 Matching Grant. Due to your generosity we have been able to provide $60,000 in poverty assistance to those in desperate need. Every dollar donated has been used to alleviate the pain and suffering of our poverty stricken fellow Americans.

We have provided below a detailed description of where every penny of the $60,000 was spent. Every penny donated was used to provide poverty assistance to senior citizens, children, the working poor and disabled that are struggling to pay for rent, utilities, auto expenses, food, toiletries, household necessities, clothing, etc.

Thank you for Caring and Sharing. All of us together make our communities a better place to live.

RENT/SHELTER = $24,445

Thanks to your generosity we have prevented many families, senior citizens, single mothers and children from becoming homeless.

This year saw a large increase in already homeless people turning to us for help. They have nowhere else to turn when they are unable to pay first month's rent and security deposit. Young single mothers living in their cars with children is more common than you would think in our communities. We have helped more families and senior citizens with housing this year than ever before. Some were struggling with life threatening illness or very sick children. Some are disabled and live in constant pain.

Thanks to your caring and sharing, The Time Is Now to Help was able to both prevent homelessness for those about to become evicted and help our fellow creations that were already homeless find safe affordable housing .

UTILITIES = $8,700 total

Gas: $3,700; Electricity: $5,000

Prior to the winter utility shut off date we assisted many people that have had their electric and gas disconnected or threatened to be shut off. We reconnected and prevented disconnection of electricity and gas for many families, seniors, and handicapped individuals.

Thanks to your generosity we have relieved the pain and suffering of living without utilities for many people.

FOOD = $9,997.26

I am sure you all have noticed the sharp increase in your own food costs this year. If you are already living on a smallfood budget you are having to eat less or supplement your food through food pantries.

We have been supporting the W.C. Food Pantry in its mission to provide good quality food to all that are in need. Under our watch hunger is not an option for our senior citizens and working poor families.

Empty cupboards and refrigerators are a constant problem I see over and over again. Your donations, matched by Richard Driehaus, fed many people that had not had a good meal in a long time. Thanks to your generosity we filled the cupboards and refrigerators for many of our fellow Americans.

TOILETRIES = $1,505.40

I found many homes without diapers, feminine hygiene products, shampoo, soap, first aid supplies, toothpaste, deodorant and sometimes even toilet paper. Toiletries and food are usually what is given up in order to provide shelter. Many families have to make the decision each month to either pay their rent or utilities or purchase diapers for their babies. Together, our compassion has allowed us to share with these poverty stricken families the items necessary for basic hygiene. God Bless all of you for Caring and Sharing.

We supplied bedding, towels, laundry detergent and cleaning supplies for those living without. Warm blankets are often requested this time of year. Thanks to your generosity these were provided for those in desperate need.

The Time Is Now to Help had many cars repaired by Mike's Auto Repair to enable the owners to keep their jobs and drive to work, doctors appointments, etc. We paid several single mothers car payments to prevent the loss of their vehicles and their jobs. We provided people with gas cards so they have the fuel necessary to drive their cars to work and keep their jobs. Thank you for your Caring and Sharing that allowed us to provide this much needed help with transportation.

One of the number one reasons for people struggling in poverty is due to medical bills and illness. There are the young adults struggling with cancer, senior citizens in ill health, serious accidents and injuries, a trip to the emergency room with a possible life threatening illness will throw off a well planned budget. With that in mind we have decided to offer our support to the Open Arms Free Clinic. The clinic provides primary and preventative health care, chronic disease management, labs, x-rays, prescription medication, medical specialist referral and health education free of charge. This is long overdue as we see every day the devastating effects due to lack of health care. Our fellow creations need our help during these desperate times when they are ill. Compassion is needed for those suffering.

HOME REPAIRS = $876.82

Much needed home repairs were provided for a family struggling with a long term illness. They were so grateful to all of you for providing the donations that paid for these repairs.

Grand Total: $60,000

As you can see every penny you donated, along with Richard Driehaus's matching funds, went to assist the poverty stricken. The funds were used to help the poverty stricken with the daily necessities of life: food, utilities, shelter, toiletries, household necessities, transportation, medical assistance and home repairs.

Here at The Time Is Now to Help we spend many hours working hard to make every penny of your donation count. We all volunteer our time outside of our full-time jobs. We investigate every request to make sure every penny we give goes to good people in genuine need. We believe in what we do with our heart and soul, and your faith in us is what gives us the strength to continue on. Many times we cry after seeing firsthand how our fellow Americans are struggling both financially and sometimes physically. But we find our inner strength and continue on the next day to share comfort and compassion to those that desperately need our help.

Together, we make our world a better place doing God's good works. Thank you for caring and sharing.

Health and happiness,

God Bless Everyone,
