January 09, 2012 | 01:39 PMELKHORN — The Walworth County Sheriff's Office is seeking the public's help in finding two people who may have witnessed a Jan. 7 shooting near the Kettle Moraine Forest area, in LaGrange Township.
At about 8:25 a.m., the Sheriff's Department received a report of a shooting incident near the public hunting grounds. A father and son, who were legally hunting and wearing blaze orange clothing, reported that an unknown subject dressed in camouflage and a hunter's face mask fired at the father one time with an unknown caliber handgun, nearly shooting him.
The father fired back, but it is unknown whether the subject wearing camouflage was injured. Neither the father or son were injured. The Sheriff's Department isn't releasing the names of the victims.
After the incident was reported, The Walworth County Sheriff's Office, including the full SWAT and K9 teams, were called into service.
After a review of reports, The Walworth County Sheriff's Office is requesting the public's help in locating two potential witnesses to the shooting. This man and woman were seen in the area just prior to the alleged shooting incident, according to a press release.
These two persons are described as a white man and woman, walking or hiking together and are between 50 and 60 years of age. The man had on a dark green shirt and white hat, and the woman was wearing a white vest.

Multiple agencies responded to the Command Post to assist the Walworth County Sheriff. They are listed as follows: Rock County Sheriff (SWAT); Jefferson County Sheriff (SWAT and K9 Teams); Waukesha County Sheriff (K9 teams); Janesville PD (K9 teams); Wisconsin State Patrol (patrol); Wisconsin DNR (search teams); Air One Police Helicopter (air search teams); LaGrange Fire and Rescue; and the Racine Fire Belles (rehabilitation/nourishment stations).
The Command Post was located on the grounds of the S and R Egg Farms, located at N9416 Tamarack Road in the Town of LaGrange. Sheriff David Graves gratefully acknowledges all of the supporting agencies and the Egg Farm owners for their extensive cooperation and use of resources during this day-long operation.
An extensive search of the area was completed at approximately 3:30 pm on Saturday. No person of interest was located during the search and there is no plan for an additional search. This incident remains under investigation by the Walworth County Sheriff's Office Detective Bureau.
