October 25, 2012 | 10:23 AMAn 11-year-old Delavan girl died Oct. 24 after a car crash on Highway 89 south of Island Road in the town of Whitewater, according to a press release from the Walworth County Sheriff's Department.
Deputies responded to the scene of the accident at 6:15 p.m. after being notified of a single-vehicle crash.
The name of this juvenile, and the other two juveniles in the car, are not being released at this time.
When deputies arrived at the scene, they found a 2003 Nissan Sentra had left Hightway 89 and struck a utility pole.
The driver of the vehicle, a 17-year-old girl, had exited the vehicle. Another 17-year-old girl and the 11-year-old girl were trapped with critical injuries and had to be extricated. The 11 year old was in the back seat. The 17 year old was in the front passenger seat.
The 17-year-old passenger was extricated and Flight For Life transported her from the scene with critical injuries. Her status is unknown at this time, according to the press release. The status of the driver was not listed in the release.
The Walworth County Crash Investigation Unit was summoned and arrived on scene. Highway 89 was shut down for about three hours during the crash investigation.
