According to the criminal complaint:

On March 27, East Troy police officers responded to a home on Edwards Street for a domestic abuse incident, which resulted in an injury.

When police arrived, they spoke to a woman who was crying and bleeding from her head. Police observed blood on the woman's hands and clothing, and she told officers her head was hurting.

The woman stated that Mayer attacked her with a screwdriver. The woman said she was stabbed once, on the left side of her head, near her temple.

On the left side of the woman's head, police observed a puncture wound that was about a quater-inch long. The woman told police she was in a great deal of pain, and that she was feeling dizzy and light headed.
