ELKHORN — A babysitter who smoked pot with a 9-year-old girl will spend 90 days in jail with work-release privileges.

Ashley N. Schrimpf, 22, 265 S. Church St., Whitewater, pleaded guilty Jan. 3 to a felony charge of delivering marijuana with an enhancer for distribution to minors.

Schrimpf was sentenced to two years of probation and must complete 80 hours of community service and pay a $500 fine.

In a separate incident, Schrimpf pleaded guilty to a felony bail jumping charge and must pay a $500 fine.

According to the criminal complaint on the marijuana charge:

On Aug. 30, police spoke to the 9-year-old girl, who said Schrimpf showed her how to smoke marijuana out of a pipe.

The girl said Schrimpf held the pipe to her mouth, lit the marijuana and told the girl to breathe in and hold it.

The 9-year-old said she smoked marijuana twice, and it made her feel weird and dizzy. When a Whitewater detective spoke to Shrimpf, she admitted to showing the girl how to smoke pot.

She also told police that she lit the marijuana for the girl after explaining to her how to smoke it.

According to the bail jumping charge:

A city of Whitewater police officer stopped Schrimpf's vehicle on Oct. 28 at 1:13 a.m. At the time her driver's license was revoked.

On Nov. 8 the same officer again stopped Schrimpf's vehicle. Schrimpf told the officer she knew her driver's license was still revoked.
