Drug unit announces cocaine bust

ELKHORN - Two suspected cocaine dealers from Harvard Ill., were recently arrested by police in Walworth County and McHenry County, Ill.

Angel Cruz, 25, and Froilan Avila-Romo, 29, both of Harvard, were taken into custody after an investigation by the Walworth County Drug Unit, the McHenry County Sheriff's Department and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency. The arrests were announced in a July 23 press release from the Walworth County Drug Enforcement Unit.

Police stopped Cruz's vehicle on Lakeville Road in the town of Walworth. Inside of his car police allegedly found three ounces of cocaine.

At the same time, police executed a search on a home in Harvard, Ill., and found 7.5 grams of cocaine, $2,400 in cash, a scale and packaging material.

When police searched Cruz's home, they reportedly found five grams of cocaine.

Cruz is confined in the Walworth County jail, and the sheriff's department is referring charges of three counts of delivering cocaine and one count of possession of cocaine with intent to deliver to the Walworth County District Attorney's office.

Avila-Romo was arrested by McHenry County authorities and is confined in the McHenry County jail.

According to the McHenry County Sheriff's Department web site, Avila-Romo's bond is set at $25,000, and he is facing four counts of delivering cocaine and four counts of possession with intent to deliver.
