December 03, 2013 | 02:42 PMLYONS — A 52-year-old Lake Geneva man died in a car crash on Thanksgiving on Highway 120 north of Prairie Road in the town of Lyons.
Jeffrey D. Peiffer was traveling south at about 3:54 p.m. on Highway 120 when his Nissan Sentra reportedly crossed the center lane and struck a Chrysler 300, according to a press release from the sheriff’s department.
Wolfgang Schubert, 69, Wauconda, Ill., was driving the Chrysler. He had a passenger, Rosalina L. Deinlein, 40, Morton Grove, Ill., in the vehicle.
Peiffer, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Walworth County corner. Schubert was taken by Flight for Life to Summit Hospital, Oconomowoc, and Deinlein was taken by ambulance to Aurora Lakeland Medical Center, Elkhorn.
The road was closed for four hours while the sheriff’s Crash Investigation Unit processed the scene.
An autopsy will be performed on Peiffer to determine the exact cause of death.
