December 04, 2013 | 02:51 PMA 67-year-old man in a wheelchair was struck by a vehicle while crossing Broad Street at Dodge Street at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday.
The victim was injured, but his injuries are not considered life-threatening, said Lake Geneva Police Lt. Ed Gritzner. The man was transported to Aurora Lakeland Medical Center, Elkhorn.
Broad Street, Lake Geneva's main north-south thoroughfare, was closed for more than three hours as police and emergency workers investigated the crash, Gritzner said.
Gritzner said an 87-year-old woman was driving a Ford Explorer southbound on Broad Street.
Gritzner said witnesses told police the wheelchair was in the crosswalk when the accident happened.
"She flat-out didn't see him," Gritzner said. "Speed is not a factor."
He said the driver will probably be cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
Names of the driver and the victim were not being released Wednesday afternoon.
