Several media outlets, including the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, are reporting that the son of state Sen. Neal Kedzie (R-Elkhorn) was beaten at his home in Whitewater after confronting a man taking down a Romney/Ryan campaign sign.
Sean Kedzie was treated at a hospital and released, his father said.
Whitewater police Monday confirmed they were investigating the incident.
In a press release, Sen. Kedzie said his son was awakened by noise. He noticed someone removing political signs and yelled at him. That person returned the sign, but someone else started arguing with the younger Kedzie.
"As this was a private family matter, we chose not to remark publicly about it and allow law enforcement to do their job," Kedzie said in his release. "But we understand these types of incidents will eventually become public and questions will arise, particularly in my position as a state legislator."
