LYONS — An untimed five-kilometer fun run and walk, called Trails for Tummies, will start at the Pedal & Cup, 1722 Highway 120, Springfield, and proceed along the White River Trail starting 9 a.m May 11.

The fun run is a benefit to find a cure for Crohn's Disease, a disorder which strikes the digestive system.

Anne Padgett, one of the organizers and a runner in the race, said the disease is controllable with treatments, but those treatments often have harsh side effects. Padgett said she is running in honor of Cole, 2, who was diagnosed with Crohn's at 14 months.

The run's goal is to raise $6,500 for the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation — Wisconsin Chapter.

The cost is $20 per runner/walker via online registration or $25 on the day of the race.

The run/walk will be held rain or shine. No refunds. The event will also feature a 50/50 raffle and a gift bag raffle.

All proceeds from the race and raffles go to support the CCFA.

Signup online at: www.runsignup.com, race name Trails for Tummies. Pay online or print off a paper registration found near the top of the race info page.

Anyone wishing to donate but not participate in the run/walk may go to Padgett's official Team Challenge Donation page at www.active.com/donate/konaNATIONAL13/VTAPadget.

Other information may be found at www.ccteamchallenge.org and www.ccfa.org/chapters/wisconsin.
