EDGERTON - Throughout the postseason, Big Foot volleyball coach Jen Stelling was worried about her team's matches lasting more than three games.
With the heightened pressure of the playoffs, she wasn't sure how her team, who won most games this season with ease, would react to adversity.
On Saturday night in a WIAA Division 2 sectional final against fellow top-seeded Richland Center, the Lady Chiefs put Stelling's mind to rest once and for all and guaranteed their names will live forever at the school.
For the first time in school history (more than 35 years of volleyball), the Walworth women will take their talents to Green Bay for next weekend's WIAA state tournament, which will most likely begin with a first-round match Friday at 4 p.m. at the Resch Center.
According to the Big Foot High School website, Big Foot's opponent and time will be posted Monday.
Check Wednesday's Lake Geneva Regional News for much more including a full story with quotes from Stelling, Annie Kunes, Meghan Schneider, Sydney Racky, Mackenzie Long, Amy Schryver and Kat Rotta.

SInce the Sports Department for the LAKE GENEVA Regional news is more concerned with the westend of the lake: Lake Geneva School District Students and Parents; Badger High School has a new STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM!!!!!! The Equestrian Team from Badger High School has won the State Championship!!!!!!!!
You are a Big Foot High School alum, right? I would think you would have some interest in the historic statebound Big Foot volleyball team as written about in the Lake Geneva REGIONAL News. The Badger equestrian team did indeed win the state title a few weeks ago and there have been ongoing plans and discussions to feature the team and their accomplishment in an upcoming issue of the REGIONAL News. We have for many years and will continue to cover the area high schools equally, despite some Lake Geneva people's apparent discontent that we even cover those schools, sports and news on "that other side of the lake."
You are correct I am a proud alum from Big Foot, I do feel a pang when the Students and Athletes of my Alma Mater do well. I live in Lake Geneva, my children all participated in sports at Badger and I continue to be associated with the Badger Sports program. I still make the point and you help make it for me, that your sports editor has this school year spent more time on"Breaking" news on BFHS coverage than BHS, Badger State Champions have to wait several weeks for recognition while it is "breaking" stories for the Chiefs. Thanks for helping me make my point Lisa.
I'm surprised a Volleyball Area isn't Set aside on the Lake Geneva Beach area for the summer season.. at least have Games on certain Days of the Week there..for Leagues..
Were I came from in Cal.? We had alot of Teams to join , like those in Bowling Leagues, etc.. Sure helped with Keeping the Weight down..too! We were sponsored by Subway , Burger King, Pizza Hut & Dunkin Donuts!
And you know, if you Burn up the Cals, you can eat anything!
There seems to be a lack of Lake Geneva Badger sports news in the local paper. Why? I have no idea. The good thing is there are other sources for local sports news available from other print media in the area.
Well, that's all Fine and Dandy, but is that not a Rich Person's Sport? Like Owning a Horse is? And not too many in my Subdivison has neihter the $ or the space to own a Horse, nor Keep one at a Horse Farm...More for the Upper Class and Rich is it not?
And What does it cost per Year to Be on the Team and What does it cost to Own a Horse and Keep it at a Farm? Kind of like Playing Polo is it not? I'm sure it's quite a bit more than Owning a Dog ! ( And my Dog can do Alot of Tricks though) Let alone The cost for being on a Volleyball Team... And How many Calories does one burn up per Hour riding a Horse vs playing Volleyball?
and How about stories about Kayak Races? Who won them this Year? And the Bike Races?
Maybe LGRN can do a Summary for the past Season on all the outdoor Sports for the Year?
It sure was a bummer Badger football didn't win against Sun Prairie, but life goes on. It takes a lot of class to proclaim Big Foot volleyball's amazing, once-in-a-lifetime accomplishment isn't "breaking" news. Hey Mac, how many people go to these equestrian events? You and all your friends, right? Exactly! Volleyball is the most popular girls sport right under basketball, and the team in Walworth is damn good. Once you get off your high horse, maybe you will understand. Until then, go suck an egg, old man.
Really Mac? Mad because the REGIONAL news is covering the "west side"? If you want the coverage you crave, your school better come up with something more than an equestrian title. Since you do claim to associate yourself with athletics, I'd say you should get to helping your squad to a few championships yourself. I'm sure when you manage that you'll at least get a tweet of attention for "your side of the lake".
Lisa rightfully pointed out that it's the Lake Geneva REGIONAL News and I'd like to emphasize that last word too: NEWS. I agree wholeheartedly that the equestrian team championship deserves some page time, and it sounds like that will be forthcoming. But tell us all something: what noteworthy things have other Badger teams done this year that HAVEN'T been covered? There are only so many pages each week and, naturally, the teams that are rising to the top on the court/on the field are getting more time in print because that's how the NEWS works! McBride, if you want to publish a paper re-capping the play-by-play from every sporting event that has ever happened just to be "fair," more power to you - sounds like you've got time on your hands. But the LGRN hasn't been in business for over 100 years because they print everything that has ever happened in the area EVER; it's because they print the NEWS. And I think many of us would like to keep it that way.
I would be more than happy to do a write up on the youth football championship, sounds quite interesting. I have been in contact with one of the coaches, and it seems neat how there are so many volunteers. Look for some coverage in the next couple weeks.
My last word on this particular subject, and this is to clarify. I am very happy that the Student Athletes of Big Foot are having a banner sports year and I also agree that they deserve every each inch of press ink their sucess can garner including "Breaking" on-line stories. Proud Parent, Dave and McRib miss my point, I am not begrudging anyone their "15 Minutes " of fame, I am disappointed with the lack of support by the "hometown" paper in giving the same coverage to the local high school. This has nothing to do with anything other than the sports editor's inability to be objective and offer bi-partisan and equal coverage of local sports for all three high schools the LGRN covers. The elation an athlete gets by seeing their name in print about their accomplishment is one I would like all high school athletes to enjoy, but double that emotion in the opposite direction when your accomplishments have been ignored, or made to feel your accomplishment is lessworthy, that is my complaint with LGRN sports department. If you would like further explination phone number is in the book call me and we can have a nice chat over a cup of coffee or whatever. BTW did you know this is the 4th year in a row for the Equestrian team of Badger High to win the State Championship
Mac, no hard feelings here. But I will point out that you didn't answer my question: what noteworthy things have other Badger teams done this year that HAVEN'T been covered? McRib has a point - instead of putting the onus on the paper to cover everything under the sun, it should be on our athletes to strive toward excellence. It's actually a pretty important life lesson for our talented local athletes: they have to earn recognition. Sure, giving everybody equal coverage makes us feel all warm and fuzzy inside, but it doesn't make achieving that coverage as big of an accomplishment as it should be. As the adults in this situation, we should be setting this example instead of trying to bully the sports department to cheapen the integrity of the sports coverage they provide. Just a thought!
Go get em Mac!! My main Man!!! I was waiting for a coach to chime in, but I got a kick out of reading what you had to say. I wish I had the time on my hands to really jump into this, but you have some time now that football is over ..I mean, you have a few months to be even more creative before you volunteer to help the basball team. From what I hear, you rake a mean infield ..
