December 16, 2011 | 09:42 PM Faith Christian's senior leader, Ben Sass, a punishing 6-foot-4 center who often fights his way through two or three defenders at a time, wasn't available for the undefeated Eagles basketball team Friday night at home.
But that didn't matter much against Menomonee Falls Calvary Baptist.
Junior Adam Montsma, the area's leading scorer, picked up the slack with 24 points including four triples, and Faith rolled to a 59-34 shellacking of the visiting Eagles.
It was Adam Montsma's fourth game with more than 20 points this season. He averages 21 points for the season.
While Faith's Eagles soared, Menomonee's wings were clipped early and often. Faith jumped out to a 25-8 lead after the first quarter, and the game was never in doubt.
Alex Montsma added 13 points, and Joe Ingersoll tallied seven points.
Faith's next test may not come until Jan. 27, a home tilt with University Lake School. ULS only lost by three points at Kenosha Reuther, a team that lost to Faith by only 13. However, Faith doesn't play a dominant team the rest of the way and could easily end up 22-0 heading into the Division 5 playoffs.
Faith is 7-0 overall and 3-0 in the Indian Trails Blue Division, where the Eagles hold a slight lead over ULS and Maranatha Baptist.
