The Badger High School drama department will present Craig Sodaro's "Murder by the Book" Thursday through Saturday, April 24 to 26.

Performances are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in the school's auditorium.

In the play, nine civilians cloaked in the disguises of critically acclaimed authors have gathered at the Dickens house on the eastern seaboard to present this year's Smoking Gun Award to the best mystery and the Dagger Award to the worst mystery.

Before they can begin the reading and selection process, however, one by one authors begin dying according to words their famous counterparts have written. Will the authors become "out of print" themselves or will they solve the mystery in time?

Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for students and senior citizens and free for students with a current Badger identification card.

The department will donate $1 for each ticket sold for a memorial for former orchestra teacher Donna Johnson that's been established at the Lakeland Animal Welfare Society.

In conjunction with the performance, a pre-dinner hors d'oeuvres party will be held April 26, beginning at 6:45 p.m. Reservations can be made by calling 348-2000, Ext. 2718 by noon April 23.

Tickets are $15, and proceeds will benefit the school's scholarship fund. Door prizes will be drawn and awarded during intermission of that night's performance.
