Chiefs just miss first

Janesville — The Big Foot golf team turned in one heck of a performance May 20 at the Rock Valley Conference meet at Glen Erin. But it wasn't enough to capture the RVC South title.

The Chiefs placed fifth overall with a score of 349, and it was the top performance by an RVC South squad. However, despite receiving the maximum 12 points from the conference tournament, Big Foot finished the season with 36.5 points, a mere one point behind conference champion Beloit Turner.

Coach Bob Sullivan said his team gave it everything.

"Our guys shot their best," he said. "It was nice to end the conference season that way. It was as close as you can get. I'm really happy with how it turned out. We put it together toward the end of the season."

Big Foot's top tally came from Collin Hubertz, who fired an 81. Paul Littig followed with an 82.

"Collin and Paul had good days," Sullivan said. "They both had solid scores. Everyone shot better than their averages."

Jake Dragonetti had a 91, and Dylan Freytag added a 95. Dan Wohlbedacht's 105 was dropped from the final scores.

McFarland won the event with a 322.
