LAKE GENEVA EVENT - Powwow set for weekend

The 21st Honor the Fire Keepers Powwow is this weekend.

A celebration of Native Americans, this traditional and cultural event will be held at Dunn Field behind Eastview School, 535 Sage St.

The event has been held in the Lake Geneva area since 1992.

The event opens at 10 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday with the grand entry being 1 and 7 p.m. on Saturday and 1 p.m. on Sunday. The grand entry is similar to a parade and signals the beginning of a series of dances and songs.

The cost to enter the Powwow is $5 for adults and $3 for seniors and children. There are food and craft tents at the event where traditional Native American items are being sold.
