Girl hurt in boating accident

Williams Bay — A 17-year-old girl is in fair condition at Children's Hospital, Milwaukee, following a boating accident in Williams Bay at about 1:41 p.m. Sunday, according to the Geneva Lake Law Enforcement Agency.

The name of the girl has not been released. She was sitting in the bow area of a 1991 Page Powerboat operated by Krzysztof Koterba, 47, of Chicago, when it struck the Williams Bay Municipal boat pier, according to the GLLEA.

The report states the boat slid partially under the pier after the collision.

The Williams Bay Police Department, Williams Bay Fire and Rescue Department, and the Water Safety Patrol responded to the accident. The victim received treatment at the scene by Williams Bay EMS personnel and then was taken by Flight for Life to Children's Hospital.

Five other occupants of the boat, including the operator, were not injured. No citations have been issued at this time, and the GLLEA reported that it is still investigating the accident.

Alcohol was not a contributing factor to the accident, according to the GLLEA.
