Elkhorn — The man suspected of robbing the Pell Lake First Banking Center allegedly removed his mask as he left the bank.

This is how the suspect's ex-girlfriend identified him to police.

Jeremiah J. Ward, 23, W1347 Bernice Road, has been charged with armed robbery as a repeater and possession of a firearm by a felon.

If convicted, Ward faces up to 56 years imprisonment and $125,000 in fines.

According to the criminal complaint:

On Aug. 31 at 10:25 a.m., police were dispatched to the First Banking Center, N1264 Park Road, after receiving a report of an armed robbery.

A teller told police a white male carrying a handgun and wearing a hockey mask walked into the bank and told the employees if they didn't touch anything, he wouldn't do anything.

The teller said money was emptied out of two cash drawers and placed into a bag.

The teller observed the robber remove his mask as he went past the bank.

Police showed a video surveillance tape to a 16-year-old girl who identified the suspect as Ward, who had dated her mother.

The mother also was shown photographs from the robbery and told police, "That's my sweater."

She also identified Ward as the man in the photo.
