Elkhorn — The Walworth County Sheriff's Department is looking for witnesses to an accident that left a 9-year-old Lake Como boy dead.

On Tuesday, Nov. 16, at about 6:58 a.m., a two-car accident occurred on Highway H by Park Street, which is near the Como Flats area, according to a Sheriff's Department press release.

"We are asking for your help. If you saw any part of this crash, or called into the dispatch center, we urge you to call Captain Scott McClory at (262) 741-4441and provide us with your name and phone number so we may speak with you," according to the release. "It is very important to this case. You can call 24-7 as this number always has the voicemail featured activated."

Carter Michael Dorwin, a third-grader at Eastview Elementary School, was pronounced dead at the scene after the crash. In the same vehicle as Carter was the driver and his mother, Nicole L. Dorwin, 36, and his brother, Bradley Dorwin, 4.

Nicole, a Family and Consumer Science teacher at Badger High School, and Bradley were taken to the hospital for their injuries and released.

The driver and sole occupant of the other vehicle, Jeremy C. Dees, 33, was flown to Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee because of his injuries.

Police believe alcohol may be a factor in the accident. Dees has three prior convictions for drunken driving.

The Walworth County Sheriff's Department is also hoping to speak to anyone who had contact with Dees in the 24 hours prior to the crash.

Dees has not yet been charged, but a $250,000 bond has been set for his release.

Police believe Dees' vehicle crossed the center line and collided into the driver side passenger door of the Dorwin vehicle, where Carter was sitting.
