BREAKING: Lady Badgers pull off second straight OT win

December 17, 2010 | 09:19 PM
Just like the Badger girls basketball team's last game at Delavan, the Lady Badgers scored 10 points in overtime Friday night.

And just like the last game, Badger won. This one was a 52-46 home victory over Wilmot thanks to a 10-4 overtime, and it improved Badger's record to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the Southern Lakes.

All of those hours at the end of practice shooting free throws paid off as Badger hit eight of 11 from the foul line in the extra five minutes.

Badger sophomore Karina Reeves scored four of her team-high 15 points in overtime. Also, Emma Kopp knocked down three of four free shots in overtime.

The Badgers and Panthers played to a 19-19 tie by halftime, and a 16-13 third quarter gave Badger a three-point lead.

But Wilmot rallied to send the game into overtime. Reeves, Kopp, Lana Wieseman and Sara Reek all scored points in overtime to help lead Badger to its second straight win.

Badger shot a solid 68 percent from the charity stripe for the game. Wieseman finished with 14 points, while Kopp added 10 including six of eight free throws.

Abby Ketchpaw tallied six points for Badger, and Reek contributed five.

The girls will have a week off before hosting the Badger Invite Dec. 28 and 29. Check Wednesday's Regional News for a complete story.
