February 24, 2011 | 02:39 PMGeneva - A national hockey event scheduled for this weekend on Lake Como has been cancelled.
Due to soft and thin ice conditions, the event will not occur.
Hockey players were expected to play on the Lake Como ice in front of the Lodge at Geneva Ridge on the southwest side of the lake.
According to CAN/AM Hockey Group Director Eric Chapman, a Lake Geneva resident, the style was supposed to be a pickup type game with four-on-four and no goalie.
About 15 adult teams were expected to participate as a round robin was supposed to run from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
No further information was provided on the future possibilities of the event being held on Lake Como.
