Lyons — To celebrate National Tourism Week and Grand Geneva Resort's green efforts over the years, Wisconsin Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch will speak at the facility next Friday, May 13, starting at 9:30 a.m.

Kleefisch will discuss the state of the local tourism industry and then will recognize the Grand Geneva as a leader in the leisure, business and group travel sectors, specifically for its sustainability efforts in the implementation of an electric car charging station.

Joining in the event will be the Walworth County Convention and Visitor's Bureau and the Lake Geneva Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Kleefisch also will talk about Walworth County's contributions to Wisconsin's travel industry and present the Grand Geneva with its Travel Green Wisconsin certification.

"Wisconsin's tourism industry has shown ever-growing interest in green technology, so we are honored that Lt. Gov. Kleefisch plans to recognize the Grand Geneva's achievements in that realm," said Grand Geneva Managing Director Brett Sundstrom.

"Our electric car charging station provides a sustainable transportation option for guests who want to reduce their carbon footprint, but is only one of the many green programs we pride ourselves on offering travelers to the region."

The public is welcome to attend the event.

A continental breakfast will be served upon the expected hour-long ceremony's closing remarks. Kleefisch then will be available for questions from attendees.
