Linn — A 6-year-old boy was killed Thursday afternoon when he was struck by a pickup truck in a driveway on Glen Fern Lane.

Samuel Vainisi, of Glen Ellyn, Ill., was sitting in the driveway when Michael Tissing, 55, of Arlington Heights pulled into the driveway and ran over Vainisi.

Tissing remained at the scene and rendered aid to Vainisi while waiting for emergency personnel to arrive.

Flight For Life was called to meet the Paratech ambulance at the Mercy Walworth Medical Center.

However, medical staff advised the family shorty before 4 p.m. that Vainisi had succumbed to his injuries.

The emergency call came over the police scanner around 3 p.m. and it was reported by dispatch that Vainisi was unconscious after the crash.

The State Patrol Technical Reconstruction Unit was called to assist in the investigation. Although the incident is still under investigation, alcohol is not a factor and charges have not been filed.
