February 08, 2012 | 07:37 AM"Thank You" to everyone that participated in the Bill McEssy McDonald's Day 2011 fundraiser. On Dec. 31, 2011 Bill McEssy donated 100 percent of the gross proceeds from six of his local McDonalds.
Lake Geneva, Lake Geneva Wal-Mart, Delavan, Elkhorn, East Troy, and Burlington all participated. In that one day we raised over $25,000 and combined with the proceeds from the Time Is Now To Help donation boxes that were at the same McDonald's restaurants, we raised a total of $27,081.72. What a great fundraiser this was for our many poverty stricken fellow Americans. Thank you Bill McEssy for your very generous donation to help our fellow creations in desperate need. You are a true blessing to our communities.
Thank you again for Caring & Sharing. Together we remove the pain and suffering of this recession for our fellow American's, making our communities a better place to live.
THIS IS HOW WE HELPED:
RENT = $15,369
We have prevented homelessness for many of our fellow creations. At least half this assistance went towards helping senior citizens that are having an especially hard time making ends meet. The remaining assistance was given to families or single mothers with children. One unexpected illness or car repair is enough to cause financial hardship in an already strained budget. We have alleviated the fear and stress of eviction notices. We have placed people in emergency housing when they have already been evicted. This area of assistance continues to be the most requested area of help needed for our fellow Americans. Being evicted and put out on the streets, the number one fear of everyone we help, is a reality for the poor. Thank God we are there to help. God bless you for caring and sharing.
UTILITIES = Gas: $2,103.00; Electricity: $4,565
Winter is a hard time to be living with your heat turned low and your lights off. Many of our neighbors are doing just that. I visit senior citizens that are sitting wrapped in blankets or wearing a coat. Children wearing their winter coats inside is becoming more and more common on my home visits. People sitting at night in the dark or with one dimly lit bulb to conserve electricity usage. People dreading the coming spring when they know they are so far behind in their utilities they will be facing disconnection. Having no electric or gas in 2012 in our great country is a tragedy to all Americans. Shame on the government for running the business of America so poorly that 50 million Americans are suffering.
FOOD = $2,391.74
We have removed the pain of hunger for many of our poverty stricken neighbors. There were many empty cupboards we have filled together. We have put food in front of people that were eating small portions in order to have enough for their children. We have put fresh healthy food in the refrigerators of our senior citizens and handicapped that were rationing what little food they had. We have improved the health and the lives of many with this food assistance we provided. Thanks to the many that participated in Bill McEssy's McDonalds Day fundraiser, we fed many who were hungry. Thank you for helping to provide this very important part of our mission.
TOILETRIES = $450
We provided toilet paper, diapers, sanitary products, tooth brushes, tooth paste, soap, etc. to many senior citizens, children, handicapped, and families. Often in my visits I see people living without the most basic toiletries. Every child should have toilet paper, soap, toothpaste, and a toothbrush. Every woman should have feminine hygiene products, babies should have clean diapers, handicapped should have clean teeth. God bless you for helping us to provide these items.
HOUSEHOLD NECESSITIES = $554.98
Several families and senior citizens were provided sheets, blankets, pillows, towels, pots and pans, cleaning supplies, and other items needed to maintain a nice, warm place to sleep and a clean household. I always stress the importance of a clean healthy environment for everyone we give assistance to.
DENTAL = $1,045
Tooth and mouth pain is very hard to live with. You cannot think of anything else. You are unable to eat, drink, or even talk due to the constant pain. Dental care is of major concern for many Americans. Without regular cleanings and exams a cavity can escalate to the point of major dental surgery being necessary. This was the case for one of our handicapped fellow creations in desperate need. They could not afford regular dental care that would have prevented this problem. I cannot turn my back when I find someone with tears of pain streaming down their face. I feel their pain until we alleviate the pain through our assistance. Thank you for helping to remove the overwhelming pain of one of our neighbors in need.
BEDS = 603
Complete bed sets were provided for a single mother with two daughters. They were sleeping on mattresses that were found on the side of the road years ago. When I asked the children what they would like they said in unison, "New beds!" I could not believe that would be a thing children would ask for, not toys, not clothes, but beds. When I looked at the beds they were sleeping on I fought off my tears until I left. I was so happy that "we" were able to bring them the one thing they wished for. God bless you for helping.
Our many fellow Americans in need are thankful for your generosity, Caring and Sharing. Together we make a big difference in the lives of many. God Bless all of you for making all our good works possible.
