Fox Charities $25,000 Matching grant = $50,000 in poverty assistance

March 21, 2012 | 07:38 AM
A big heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed to The Fox Charities $25,000 Matching Grant. This matching grant enabled us to provide $50,000 in assistance to many struggling poverty stricken fellow Americans. Your donations, combined with Fox Charities generous matching funds, prevented many from homelessness, loss of transportation, lack of heat and lights, hunger and other daily necessities for our fellow creations. Thank you for your continued support of our mission The Time Is Now to Help and thank you for Caring and Sharing. Together we have eased the pains of poverty for our fellow creations. God Bless you for helping.

Rent = $12,930.00

We helped a grandmother struggling to obtain custody of her physically abused grandchildren. They would not let her get custody without what they considered the proper amount of bedrooms, regardless of the terrible living conditions the children were living in previously. The grandmother was overjoyed to be able to protect her grandchildren from the abusive people they were subjected to while in custody of their alcoholic mother. The children and grandmother cried happy tears, hugging each other, full of gratitude that we came to their rescue.

Recent Community Living
We assisted several people already evicted and on the verge of eviction with emergency housing assistance. There is nothing more frightening for most people than living in their car, or even worse on the street. Your caring and sharing provided a warm safe bed for several families.

We helped a single mother raising two children with autism keep them in a stable safe environment. This mother was overwhelmed with the thought of trying to explain homelessness to these special needs children.

Utilities = $5,723.09 Gas: $2,775.00 Electric: $2,275.00 Water: $273.09 Phone: $400.00

We helped several handicapped individuals, cancer patients, single parents, and struggling senior citizens bring their gas, electric, telephone and water bills up to date. These would all have been soon disconnected. Your kindness and generosity prevented overwhelming hardship for these fellow Americans. Thank you for your caring and sharing.

Food = $3,141.10

We provided emergency food assistance to many families living with empty refrigerators and cupboards. Unemployment and illness also affect many families' abilities to provide food for their children. Senior citizens go hungry in order to pay for rent and prescription medications. Together, we have eased the pain of hunger for many.

Transportation = $26,277.77

This was our largest area of assistance with this matching grant. Fox Charities, the provider of this matching grant opportunity, was very concerned for our fellow Americans struggling without transportation for jobs, daily necessities, and medical needs. They requested this to be their category for this matching grant. We paid for 11 very necessary car repairs. We purchased three vehicles for single mothers trying to maintain jobs and a family. We also registered these cars. We provided new tires for four vehicles that were unsafe to drive due to the very poor condition of the tires. We paid overdue car payments for two single mothers just prior to the cars being repossessed. We also assisted many people with gas cards. Gas prices continue to be very high and it is a struggle for all these fellow creations to pay for gas to get to work. Think what it would be like if you had no transportation. All the help we gave removed the helpless, hopeless feeling of being lost with no way to get to work, ultimately losing their jobs, as so many do. Thank you for making this assistance possible through your generous support of The Time Is Now to Help.

Household Necessities = $692.91

Together we provided many with sheets, blankets, towels, pillows, plates, pans, small appliances, cleaning supplies, etc. were supplied. Cleaning supplies are needed to keep a safe, hygienic home for these families.

Toiletries = $563.98

Toilet paper, soap, shampoo, tooth paste, dental floss, feminine hygiene, diapers, and many other items were distributed to ease the pains of poverty. Many of these people are working, or going to job interviews and they do not want to appear unclean. Personal hygiene is a necessity, yet most products are very expensive. The Time Is Now to Help assisted many poverty stricken with this financial burden. These senior citizens, children, single mothers, families, and handicapped were extremely happy to receive these, once every day products that are now considered luxuries for the poor.

Household Repairs = $414.13

The Time Is Now to Help assisted a widowed senior citizen with a furnace repair she could not afford. This helped to keep her warm this past winter.

Medical Assistance = $257.02

One of the grandchildren we wrote about previously had never seen a dentist. She had extensive dental care provided at a greatly reduced rate.

Total: $50,000.00
