Barrett wins state, county

May 08, 2012 | 09:12 PM

Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett has won the Democratic primary over Kathleen Falk.

Preliminary statewide results show Barrett winning 54 percent of the vote and Falk, the former Dane County executive, with 37 percent.

In Walworth County, unofficial results show 4,780 votes for Barrett and 2,667 for Falk.

Barrett will face Wisconsin Republican Gov. Scott Walker in a June 5 recall election that has become a nationally watched battle over union rights.
