What is Lake Geneva Missing?

January 13, 2014 | 08:02 AM

To be completely honest, I wish that the town of Lake Geneva had a better local cinema... the Showboat is rather crappy, considering the fact that I have not attended a movie there in well over a year. From following awards seasons, why is it that the Showboat (which hopefully can be bought out and improved) cannot screen INTERESTING and GOOD movies such as "12 Years A Slave", "Dallas Buyers Club", "Blue Jasmine", "The Wolf of Wall Street", "Captain Phillips", "Nebraska", "Before Midnight", "August: Osage County" "Her", etc. etc. among countless others over the years! Genuinely, it sucks that in order to catch and support one of these flicks, residents of Lake Geneva (and other nearby towns too, as the movie theater in Burlington is no improvement, and the only other cinema in Walworth County is all the way up in Whitewater) must drive at least 45 or so minutes to suburbs of Milwaukee or Chicago in order to view such critically acclaimed films before they are released months later onto DVD (for example, take note on the cinemas in Round Lake, IL and Crystal Lake, IL). Thus, in conclusion, I simply and sincerely wish that Lake Geneva and Walworth County as a whole were the possessors of an awesome movie theater that screened equally wonderful, interesting, and award-nominated films.
