You are 100% correct on all fronts but you did fail to shed light on one point- changing times. Kids are not playing tennis, fewer and fewer are playing baseball and basketball and the average age of skateboarders is creeping up well in to the 20's. The older among us have a stereotype of skateboarding as a kids sport, full of teenaged thugs and losers but nothing could be further form the truth. Skateboarders are artists, thinkers and future civic leaders just like you were when you were a misunderstood teen. Over the coming decade you will see the usual publicly-funded past times fade further in to the background and now is the time to begin making that transition. You want these kids to come back to LG after college? Want them to raise families there? Change with the times, create a world-class skate facility using ALL available funds and watch as droves and droves of families, adult skaters and even professional skate and bike teams parade to LG, spending money in the process.

This opportunity is real and can change the way LG marches forward, not staying in the past. The downtown surely isn't what it used to be and only so many families can convince their teens to come along for a weekend walking the paths surrounding the lake... not understanding the way our kids think is no excuse for demanding that they think like us. We angered our parents with our hair, music and antics and they did the same before us and on and on back through time. These are good kids, skateboarding is a good sport and this is a good opportunity for LG... Carpe Diem, y'all...
