City: an incorporated municipality, usually governed by a mayor and a board of aldermen or councilmen.

So tell me, since we're a "city" and this is the definition of a "city", how does this mean that we're required to build anything and everything people think they "need"?

That "If you build it, they will come" philosophy leaves alot to be desired. Let me guess, you're one of those that believes that if we just offer basketball after school then crime will go down in the city. Doesn't work that way. You asked why people are willing to dish out money for statues and the such but not a skateboard park. It's quite simple, obviously people don't feel it's important, needed, or worthy of their tax money.

Still haven't heard a good reason as to why this isn't allowed to be built by the private sector. If the "parents" want a place for junior to "board", let them pay a fee or membership dues to use a private location. My guess is the reason is this hasn't happened is because if someone else isn't footing the bill the "need" isn't so great....
