Boat Launch Caps?
June 15, 2011 | 01:17 PM

No municipality can limit the number of boats using a public launch. Reducing the number of parking stalls for vehicles and trailers is intended to create an inconvinience for boaters to discourage the use of the launches. The DNR does not allow municipalities to limit the number of launches to the number of available parking stalls. It is not the role of municipalities to restrict the use of a body of water, nor do they have that ability. If there are "too many" boats on Geneva Lake, how do we determine which boats should be allowed to use the lake? Let's limit the free market. Only those with the current ability to operate a marine service business should be allowed to profit. Let's protect them from any competion. Go Jerry, Go Gordy, Go Gage!
