UPDATE: Badger wrestlers earn first team state berth
February 15, 2012 | 12:26 AM

JANESVILLE - The Badger wrestling squad did something Tuesday night it hadn't done in the program's 50-year history - win a team sectional.
Badger, which won its first regional Saturday, kept up the momentum at Janesville Craig High School with a 34-31 victory over Stoughton, a team which was ranked in Division 1.
Badger got pins from Randy Shine (138), Tayler Hildebrandt (182), Andy Cychner (160) and Eddie Ruzga (220).
The Vikings only mustered two pins.
Also, Rory Shine (152), who missed regionals and much of the season with a hip injury, persevered and competed Tuesday. Rory made the most of his return, defeating Isaac Keller in a 12-4 major decision.
Michael Coyne (120) and Tyler Otero (170) nabbed wins by decision.
Badger advances to team state at UW-Madison March 3 and 4.
