The Time is Now to Help
$40,000 matching grant helping

May 26, 2011

Several months ago I started receiving many new requests for assistance due to the same circumstances, the closure of Lake Lawn Resort. After 133 years, Lake Lawn Resort had closed and several hundred fellow creations lost their jobs. Due to the fact many of these jobs were low-paying, and the balance moderate paying, these families and individuals were surviving from paycheck to paycheck. Our fellow Americans found themselves cutting back on food, lowering their thermostat and struggling with their rent. Many could not make car payments, pay for medical care and prescriptions, or buy everyday necessities for their children.

With our beloved country in a recession, many of our government assistance programs have extensive waiting lists. Due to the intense fear of becoming homeless, our desperate neighbors reached out to us through The Time Is Now To Help. I prayed over the numerous requests for help from the recession, and the closing of Lake Lawn. In my heart I knew Lake Lawn had to reopen. This was a monumental task, especially in a recession, so as I always do I turned to God.

After praying for some time in the midst of a dark, snowy January evening, in walked Jim Drescher. I hadn't seen Jim for several weeks. Jim and his wife Ardith and numerous God loving volunteers had been busy with their WC Family Resource Center, feeding over 1,300 people a month. Surprised to see Jim walking in out of the snow I jumped up and hugged him. I told Jim about how the closure of Lake Lawn Resort, along with the ongoing recession, was adding to the desperate pains of poverty. Jim said, "We are going to have to reopen Lake Lawn." Thinking of all our fellow creations that desperately needed help, I started to tear up. Knowing God was listening to this tall request from Jim, I knew at that moment God sent Jim to accomplish such a grand task.

To save all of you the details of a three and a half month battle of trials and tribulations, yelling, screaming, swearing, maneuvering, battling, and mental torment. And yes a lot of crying and constant prayer, God prevailed, the desperate people prevailed and Lake Lawn is reopening. I knew what we were going through was no comparison to what the desperate people were going through. We could have taken the easy way out and walked away, but our neighbors have no easy way out in this recession. We could not let the diversion discourage us. We had to keep focused on our mission, reopening Lake Lawn Resort for the people.

At the same time, we had hundreds of people that love Lake Lawn encourage the bold move to reopen, save the memories, and create new great memories. We prevailed against the few that tried to stop what was best for the people, the city, the tax base, and the employees.

In this recession it will not be easy to reopen a resort. It will be a monumental task to put all the pieces back together and to make it better than ever. It will take Jim Drescher and his group of devoted partners, including Gregg Kunes, the city of Delavan, the state of Wisconsin, very hard-working employees and thousands of visitors to make Lake Lawn a success for all people, for God's people.

At this time I have over 400 requests for assistance. We the people need to step up to feed, clothe, and help turn on their electric and gas, prevent children, the elderly and good fellow Americans from becoming homeless ... We need to help those living in the desperate pains of poverty.

Giving back, from the company I own, Lake Geneva Area Realty, I am offering a $40,000 matching grant. For every dollar you give I will match it with another dollar. Together, we need to help our fellow creations out of their extreme stresses of poverty. Please, they have no one else to turn to. Our fellow Americans need us to stand strong, together.

During the quest to reopen Lake Lawn, I would go on many local missions to assist our neighbors. Doing this good work gave me the strength to carry on. I found numerous poverty-stricken living with their utilities shut off, in desperate need of food, unable to afford gas for their cars, helpless to afford repairs for their cars, unable to pay their rent, living in extreme stress, fear and tears. I found elderly, infants, children, and the handicapped, good people all living in the pains of poverty. I no longer could feel sorry for myself or anyone fighting the battle to reopen Lake Lawn. Yes, it has been one of the toughest most stressful times, especially for Jim Drescher being attacked on all sides. You know that saying, no good deed goes unpunished. After seeing all these people suffering in poverty, and Jim feeding these people, we knew we had to stay close to God and stay to our course, no matter the intense hardships. God bless Jim Drescher for his strength and his belief.

Now, our neighbors, desperately, need your help. Please, please help me ease their pains of poverty. Together, we will feed, clothe, and house our Fellow Creations. It is a lot easier to care and share and help our fellow Americans than to live in their fear of reaching out for help not knowing if they will be answered. Please help me help them. Every penny of your donation will be utilized to ease their pains of poverty and every penny will be matched by Lake Geneva Area Realty. Thank you for caring and sharing.
