Genoa City Police Chief Ralph Bauman speaks to the driver of a vehicle after a crash crash on Highway H in Genoa City.
With a cool, light rain sporadically falling, firefighters from several area departments fought a house fire on Fred Mohn Drive in Genoa City.

On Wednesday morning, fire departments from throughout Walworth County and Northern Illinois hauled water in tanker trucks as they attempted to extinguish the flames.

Law enforcement became aware of the fire when a neighbor reported seeing smoke. Police arrived on scene, saw the house was on fire and called in the fire department.

Emergency personnel at the scene said it didn't appear as if anyone was home at the time of the incident. Emergency personnel suspect the home is a summer residence.

The fire occurred in the Workmen's Benefit Fund Camp, which is commonly referred to as the German Camp.

The fire also wasn't the only incident to occur in Genoa City on Wednesday morning. Police at the fire had to leave to respond to a two-vehicle accident on Highway H near Fellows Road.

It didn't appear as if either drive was hurt, and ambulances weren't at the crash site.
