Delavan men arrested with cocaine

March 01, 2012

Two Delavan men face a felony charge after they were arrested in Geneva Township with what was allegedly more than 40 grams of cocaine.

Reginald Washington, 46, and Darren A. Agnew, 36, both of 70 Franklin St., face up to 46 years imprisonment and $100,000 in fines.

Because of prior convictions, both men have been charged as repeaters. Washington has a prior felony conviction for false imprisonment and Agnew was convicted of possession of cocaine with intent to deliver.

According to the criminal complaint:

On Feb. 19, at 11:13 a.m., Geneva Township police conducted a traffic stop on Highway 12. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Agnew and Washington was the passenger.

On the center console, the officer observed what appeared to be a bag of cocaine. Washington allegedly told police, "That's my cocaine."

While the two men were being transported to the jail, Agnew told Washington, "I better get that (expletive) out of my room."

The officer reported that the cocaine weighed 2.2 ounces.
