A 21-year-old Bloomfield woman faces a felony charge after she set the rear of her home on fire by igniting a backpack owned by her child's father.

Destiny C. Jones, W273 Circle Dr., faces felony charges of second-degree recklessly endangering safety and a misdemeanor charge of negligent handling of burning material.

If convicted of both counts, she faces up to 10 years and nine months imprisonment and $35,000 in fines.

According to the criminal complaint:

On July 30, police went to the Bloomfield home and found the rear of the house engulfed in flames.

A woman told police she was sleeping inside of the home with her grandchild. She woke up to the smoke and fire.

Destiny Jones told police she had an argument with her child's father.

She said she set the man's backpack on fire and placed it on the deck outside and walked away.

The woman said she noticed her carpet was on fire and clothes on the deck also were on fire.

The woman said she tried to put out the fire with cups of water.
