Three men hurt in alleged drunken driving crash

Three Beloit men were seriously injured Sunday night after the driver, who was allegedly drunk, lost control of his vehicle, slid off the highway and struck a tree.

The Walworth County Sheriff's Department is referring charges against Ricardo Orlando Villalobos, 25, for the following alleged offenses: operating while intoxicated, operating while intoxicated causing great bodily harm (two counts), operating while suspended, open intoxicants in a motor vehicle and operating without insurance.

Villalobos was driving his 2007 Ford truck north on U.S. Highway 43, and he slid off the icy highway on the off ramp for for State Highway 14 in the town of Darien, according to a press release from the Walworth County Sheriff's Department.

The crash occurred at about 9:48 p.m.

The truck went down the embankment and struck a tree. Villalobos was partially ejected. He was flown to a Madison-area hospital, and he suffered from a broken ankle, broken pelvis and head injuries.

Isidro Angel Santana-Ruiz, 21, was flown to a Milwaukee area hospital. He suffered from multiple broken bones to the arm and hand and facial injuries.

Eddie Christian Santana, 22, was taken by ambulance to a Milwaukee area hospital. He suffered from a broken neck, broken back and facial injuries.
