Lloyd L. Bank, 84, Bloomfield Township, died Friday morning, Jan. 18, 2013, at Kindred Nursing and Rehab Center in Burlington. Funeral services at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Johnís Evangelical Lutheran Church in Slades Corners. Interment in St. Johnís Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Haase-Lockwood and Associates Funeral Home in Twin Lakes and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the church. Memorial remembrances may be made to the Walworth County Meals on Wheels Program, in care of Haase-Lockwood and Associates Funeral Home, Box 310, Twin Lakes, WI, 53181. 1824: The Tennessee Legislature adjourns ending Davy Crockett's state political career. Crockett died at the legendary siege of the Alamo in 1836.
1836: Sam Houston sworn in as the first president of the Republic of Texas. In March 1843, 176 members of an unauthorized army of Texans captured in Mexico drew beans from a jar to determine which 17 among them would die for their alleged crimes.
1859: Spain declares war on the Moors in Morocco.
