But on Monday night, he said these figures "in essence address the district's problems," or the size of increasing school district's deficit. According to one projection, the estimated revenue for the district in the 2010-11 school year is more than $6.9 million.

Frederick F. Heuser III, 241 Nelson St., was arrested June 12 after a standoff with the Walworth County SWAT team.

Due to growing concerns about the aging elementary school, which is nearly 100 years old, Henry, of Kehoe-Henry Associates, conducted a study to determine the best renovation concepts for the school and help the board decide whether they choose a complete makeover or a new school altogether.Based on Henry’s recommendations, improvements including expanded rooms and wheelchair accessibility would cost more than $8.5 million, with a future expansion to combine student services and the main office and add handicap accessibility to the gym entrance and kindergarten rooms running the final possible total to $11 million.

That may mean a referendum as early as Sept. 14. If district voters approve a referendum, it likely will mean a tax rate increase to ensure their schools continue providing its current level of services.But there weren’t as many people at the June 17 Referendum Committee meeting as there were earlier this month, when Vorlop suggested concerned district residents establish a committee and take other measures to promote the district’s need to make up funds for the estimated $530,000 deficit projected for the past school year.
Board approves bids for fire garageConstruction on project could begin within 30 daysJune 24, 2010Walworth — It took two rounds of bids, but on Monday night, the Village Board approved the contractors who will build a new Fire Department garage. In March, the village received bids for the construction of a new garage, which will be located behind the fire department building at 227 N. Main St. Those bids came in between $141,000 and $256,000, which is much higher than the $80,000 to $90,000 price tag officials were hoping for.After the bids came in higher than expected the village regrouped and changed some plans searching for a lower price tag.
