July 05, 2012Elkhorn — A Lake Geneva contractor faces five counts of felony theft after he allegedly collected money from customers but never completed the work.
Thomas G. Felski, 51, of rural East Troy, is also accused of borrowing $4,000 from a man he met while an inmate at the Walworth County Jail to pay child support. However, when that man called to collect debt, Felski allegedly threatened to kill him and his family.
Felski owns Daddy's Home Business Improvements, which has a Lake Geneva P.O. Box. On the Better Business Bureau's website, the business is listed "no longer in business."  |

July 05, 2012A 50-year-old California man who was arrested with 5 pounds of marijuana in Geneva Township was sentenced June 27 to three years of probation.
Alexis D. Calderon, of Lake Forest, pleaded guilty April 20 to possession with intent to deliver marijuana.
As a condition of his probation, Calderon received a six-month jail sentence with work-release privileges. However, that jail sentence is stayed once the Department of Corrections has transferred Calderon's probation to California. According to the criminal complaint: Police stopped Calderon's vehicle on Highway 12 near Highway NN. The car was searched and 10 packages of marijuana were found in a duffle bag. The marijuana weighed a little more than 5 pounds. |

July 05, 2012A 32-year-old Lake Geneva man was sentenced June 29 to five years of probation after he pleaded guilty to two counts of delivering heroin.
As a condition of probation, Michael J. Fischer, 1163 S. Wells St. Apt. 12, will spend one year in jail with work-release privileges.
In a separate case, Fischer pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of hit and run. He was ordered to pay $7,235 in restitution. |

July 05, 2012When an Illinois inmate finishes his sentence in the Prairie State, he has another four years hanging over his head in Badger land.
Vernon E. Nease, 38, of Canton, pleaded guilty to two felony counts of burglary, felony theft and misdemeanor mistreatment of animals.
All of the charges stem from burglaries he committed in Walworth County in 2010. |

July 05, 2012ELKHORN — A 34-year-old Delavan man who stole an assault rifle and numerous other firearms and traded them for drugs was sentenced July 6 to 12 years in a state prison by Judge John Race.
Aubrey W. Dahl, of Delavan, pleaded guilty April 27 to felony charges of burglary and possession of a firearm by a felon.
Dahl also was sentenced to 10 years of extended supervision and was found eligible for the earned-release program and the challenge incarceration program. Both programs could reduce the time he is in prison. |

July 05, 2012Elkhorn — When Judge John Race sentenced a 19-year-old mom for felony reckless driving, he made it clear he wanted her to mature.
"She needs to grow up, she needs to realize she is not a child," Race said.
Sarah R. Wald, N3141 Canary Road, on Oct. 21 drove down Edwards Boulevard in a zigzag fashion while singing a song and traveling about 50 mph in a 30 mph zone. |
