Judge orders probation in battery case

A 22-year-old Elkhorn man, who was involved in a fight where another person was stabbed, pleaded guilty Dec. 13 to a felony charge of substantial battery. Cole Sorg, 110 North Lincoln St., was sentenced to three years of probation. As a condition of his probation he must serve six months in jail with work release privileges. He also was ordered to pay $28,632 in restitution, a total shared with several other co-defendants.

Alleged bank robber may change plea

December 20, 2012
A man accused of robbing the People's Bank in Sugar Creek Township in August is scheduled for a February court hearing to change his plea. Robert C. Lynn, 29, Lake Ivanhoe, faces federal charges of armed bank robbery and use of a firearm during a violent crime. If convicted, Lynn faces up to life in prison. Federal court documents indicate that Lynn may face additional bank robbery charges in Illinois.

Woman charged after house fire

December 20, 2012
A 21-year-old Bloomfield woman faces a felony charge after she set the rear of her home on fire by igniting a backpack owned by her child's father. Destiny C. Jones, W273 Circle Dr., faces felony charges of second-degree recklessly endangering safety and a misdemeanor charge of negligent handling of burning material. If convicted of both counts, she faces up to 10 years and nine months imprisonment and $35,000 in fines.

Grandma faces embezzlement charge

December 20, 2012
ELKHORN — A 75-year-old Delavan woman faces a felony charge after she allegedly stole $16,628 from the East Delavan Union Cemetery Association. Sandra A. Behn, 706 Faryl Ave., No. 12, has been charged with theft from a business setting. If convicted, she faces up to 10 years imprisonment and $25,000 in fines. Behn had been the treasurer of the association since 2006.
