Walworth man gets prison for child porn

A 33-year-old Walworth man was sentenced Feb. 22 to three years in a state prison after he pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography. Alex N. Pepper, 115 Weber St., also was sentenced to three years of extended supervision. He is also required to register as a sex offender and must pay a $500 fine. Pepper was arrested after a state law enforcement agency raided his home Aug. 18, 2011, and found the contraband. However, Pepper wasn't located for about three weeks after the raid.

Three more charged in home invasion

February 28, 2013
Three more people face felony charges after a violent Delavan home invasion during which a man was beaten and stabbed. The Walworth County District Attorney's Office recently filed three felony charges against Daylan Love, Stephanie N. Vierck and Miranda K. Decker, all 25 and of Delavan. Love, Vierck and Decker face charges of false imprisonment, strangulation and suffocation and first-degree recklessly endangering safety, as a party to a crime with the use of a dangerous weapon.

Sex offender sent to jail

A registered sex offender was sentenced to 90 days in jail with work release privileges after he didn't inform the sex offender registry that he was living in a tent behind a bait shop on Highway 50. Christopher L. Wegner, now of 121 Turtle Creek Drive, Apt. 2, pleaded guilty Feb. 13 to a sex offender registry violation. According to the criminal complaint:

Walworth woman pleads guilty to theft

ELKHORN — A 47-year-old Walworth woman pleaded guilty to a felony charge Feb. 18 after she stole money from her father's IRA account. Kimberly L. Doran, W4720 Stateline Road, pleaded guilty to a felony charge of theft from a business setting in an amount between $5,000 and $10,000. Three other charges of theft will be dismissed but considered during her April 22 sentencing hearing. Doran faces up to six years imprisonment.

Lyons man allegedly had child porn

During an undercover operation, FBI agents allegedly collected child pornography from a Lyons man on an online file-sharing network. Tony J. Zeisse, 33, 1419 Creek Side Drive, has been charged with 10 counts of possession of child pornography. Each charge carries a maximum penalty of 25 years imprisonment and $100,000 in fines. Each charge also carries a minimal term of confinement of three years.

Wrestling coach guilty of child enticement

ELKHORN — An Elkhorn wrestling coach pleaded guilty Feb. 22 to a felony charge of child enticement after he propositioned a 17-year-old boy for sex. Steven Springsteen-Hensel, 32, faces up to 15 years in a state prison and 10 years of extended supervision and $100,000 in fines. He is scheduled to be sentenced April 22.Springsteen-Hensel was taken into custody after he sent text messages to the 17-year-old. The boy turned his cell phone over to police, and Springsteen-Hensel was arrested in the parking lot of Phoenix Middle School during a sting operation.
Madison man sent to prison

A 31-year-old Madison man was sentenced Feb. 13 to three years in prison after he had sex with a 14-year-old Walworth County girl.Andrew J. Hying, 754 Engelhart Drive, pleaded guilty Dec. 12 to a felony charge of second-degree sexual assault of a child.Hying’s sentence also includes three years of extended supervision.

Jury convicts man of 4 counts of sexual assault

A Walworth County jury found a 26-year-old Washington state man guilty of four counts of sexual assault.In June 2012, Matthew L. Dennis fondled a 13-year-old girl at a beach and a private residence in Walworth County. Dennis denied to police that he touched the girl, according to court documents.
Heroin dealer gets 4 years in prison

A 45-year-old Bloomfield man, who was arrested twice in 2012 for selling heroin, was sentenced to four years in a state prison Feb. 6 by Judge John Race.Randal L. Bass, W1726 Litchfield Road, pleaded guilty Nov. 21 to felony charges of bail jumping, delivering heroin, possession of heroin with intent to deliver and theft of movable property.His sentences matched an earlier agreement reached by Assistant District Attorney Zeke Wiedenfeld and defense attorney Frank Lettenberger.
Former coach scheduled to change plea

ELKHORN — After more than a year, the sexual assault case against a former Williams Bay JV basketball coach may come to an end.Shane McKinley, 28, now of Georgetown, Texas, is accused of having a sexual relationship with a student-athlete who he was coaching.In January 2012, McKinley was charged with five felony counts — one count of repeated sexual assault of a child and five counts of possession of child pornography.
Delavan man guilty of sexual assaults

ELKHORN — A 68-year-old Delavan man pleaded guilty Jan. 16 to two felony charges after he sexually assaulted two young girls in his Delavan apartment.When David L. Burdick, 353 Tyrrell Court, No. 313, is sentenced March 8 he faces up 120 years imprisonment. Burdick knew the alleged victims, who were 4 and 8 when the assaults began.
Lyons man gets six years prison

A 20-year-old Lyons man was sentenced Jan. 4 to six years in prison for sexually assaulting two girls.Brandon J. Collins, 5902 Christine Court, also was sentenced to six years of extended supervision. On Nov. 2 Collins pleaded guilty to felony charges of repeated sexual assault of a child, first-degree sexual assault of a child, second-degree sexual assault of a child and bail jumping.

A one-time candidate for the Williams Bay School Board has been charged with first-degree child sexual assault.If convicted, Kevin J. Thomas, 43, faces up to 60 years imprisonment. According to the criminal complaint, on Aug. 14 Thomas touched a 9-year-old boy in a sexual manner.

A town of Delavan man faces felony charges after police allegedly found 62 pot plants in a home he was renting. Shaun E. Hillary, 32, has been charged with manufacturing marijuana and maintaining a drug trafficking place, both charges are as second and subsequent offenses.If convicted, Hillary faces up to 24 years imprisonment and $35,000 in fines.
