December 23, 2010Waterford — The Burlington/Badger/Wilmot gymnastics squad continued its dual meet meet dominance last Thursday in its first Southern Lakes action.
The Demons pounded the Wolverines, 141.55-127, to improve to 5-0 overall in dual meets and 1-0 in the SLC. Coach Diane Biedrzycki thought it was a bit of a sloppy night for her girls, but she will take the win.
"When I saw our score, it was a pleasant surprise," she said. "I thought it would be lower. I felt like we had enough errors to have a lower score."
December 23, 2010So far, the 2010 season has been nothing but "Bah, Humbug" for the Green Bay Packers.
The team has stumbled to an 8-6 record with two games left thanks to a 31-27 loss Sunday night at New England.
With the holiday season here, hopefully Santa Claus will be in the giving spirit for the Pack with a playoff berth.

BREAKING: Lady Badgers pull off second straight OT winDecember 16, 2010Just like the Badger girls basketball team's last game at Delavan, the Lady Badgers scored 10 points in overtime Friday night.And just like the last game, Badger won. This one was a 52-46 home victory over Wilmot thanks to a 10-4 overtime, and it improved Badger's record to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the Southern Lakes. All of those hours at the end of practice shooting free throws paid off as Badger hit eight of 11 from the foul line in the extra five minutes.

Although it was a classic battle on the court, it was what happened off the court that really stood out. Fans from both sides took part in a “Gray Out.” Gray T-shirts were sold for $10 apiece promoting the idea of “One Game, One Cause, One Community.”
Lady Badgers knock off Comets in overtime thrillerDecember 16, 2010Delavan — Last Thursday, the Badger girls basketball squad showed a never-say-die attitude. With three players fouling out in overtime, the girls still found a way to edge the Comets, 60-57. Badger outscored Delavan 10-7 in the extra frame, including five points from sophomore Karina Reeves. “With multiple players fouling out, others had to step up,” Badger coach David Jooss said.
BREAKING: Badgers can't overcome triples, PanthersDecember 09, 2010Badger High School was rocking Friday night. It was the first Southern Lakes home game for the Badger boys basketball squad, and the guys were poised to bounce back from a tough loss at Waterford Tuesday. The home fans and student section were at high volume, but it was the Wilmot Panthers whose sharp shooting silenced everyone in the gym, including the Badgers.Despite entering the contest with a 1-3 record, Wilmot was on fire, draining eight three-pointers in a 67-54 victory. Badger dropped to 1-3 overall and 1-2 in the SLC.
Other area scores: Burlington whips state-ranked WaterfordDecember 09, 2010The Waterford boys entered Friday's contest at Burlington ranked ninth in the state in Division 2 with a 2-1 record. The Demons didn't offer a warm welcome to their rivals, still bitter from two losses to the Wolverines last year. Burlington crushed Waterford, 84-57, behind 28 points from senior forward Travis Crayton, who hit four three-pointers. In all, Burlington connected on nine long-range jumpers. The Demons (2-1, 1-0 SLC) jumped out to a 28-11 lead after the first quarter and never looked back.
BREAKING: Strong second half lifts Faith boys over BayDecember 09, 2010Williams Bay -- For the next year, the Faith Christian boys basketball squad can go by a different name -- the King of the Bay.That's because the Eagles overcame a 16-12 halftime deficit to rally for a 40-36 win over crosstown rival Williams Bay Saturday afternoon.Both Bay and Faith fans participated in a "Gray Out." Gray T-shirts were sold with proceeds going toward cancer research. There wasn't an empty seat in the house as the raucous crowd accentuated what has become a competitive rivalry over the past seven seasons.
Badger boasts mat depthDecember 09, 2010Last year, the Badger wrestling squad sent heavyweight Joe Cychner to state and seven grapplers to sectionals. Cychner along with Tyler Conrad (171) and Bryce Bobula (189) have moved on, but the Badgers return a wealth of talent to a team that finished fourth in the Southern Lakes Conference last year. Head coach Shane Koehl said while the entire lineup isn’t officially set, he has a lot of talent.

BREAKING: Bay draws first blood in crosstown rivalryDecember 02, 2010Williams Bay -- While Stephanie Tadje is undoubtedly the senior leader for the Williams Bay girls basketball squad, it was two sophomores who led the Bulldogs to victory Tuesday night. In front of a raucous crowd at Faith Christian School, the Lady 'Dogs finished the game on a 14-7 run over the last quarter and a half to steal a 22-18 win. The Bay improved to 2-1 overall with the win, and Faith dropped to 0-2.
