February 17, 2011Elkhorn — Walworth County officials will apply for a $100,000 grant through the state Office of Judicial Assistance to pay for an expanded jail inmate electronic monitoring program using sophisticated electronic ankle bracelets, similar to one now being used in Rock County.
The Walworth County Board's Executive Committee voted Monday morning to direct County Administrator David Bretl to prepare the application.

Ashley Contreras, the Community Outreach Coordinator for the Delavan-Darien School District, said the council will partner with the Janesville Boys & Girls Club and the new advisory council will answer to the Janesville board of directors.
The next step will be to find a facility where the Delavan-Darien Boys and Girls Club can meet, possibly a vacant building or space in a school. |

Dunn sentenced to 10 years probation for child pornDecember 09, 2010Elkhorn — Writer, museum curator, teacher, and now, registered sex offender.Walter S. Dunn, 82, LaFayette Township, was sentenced to six months of confinement under the Huber law, followed by 10 years of probation after pleading guilty earlier to one count of possession of child pornography.Walworth County Judge James Carlson also imposed and stayed a three-year prison term, which could be enforced if Dunn violates his probation.
