BREAKING: Badgers upset Broncos in overtime

Union Grove -- The Badger boys basketball team snapped its nine-game losing streak in grand fashion Friday night.

Badger outscored host Union Grove (9-5, 5-2) 16-3 in overtime to steal a 68-55 victory in Southern Lakes action.

Badger (2-10, 2-5) led 44-37 after three quarters, but the Broncos used a 15-8 fourth quarter to force overtime, including a layup with six seconds left to tie the game at 52-52.

However, the Badgers jumped all over Union Grove in overtime, scoring the first seven points to take control. Badger freshman Jacob Growel scored seven of his team-high 14 points in overtime.

Badger nearly won the game at the end of regulation with a three-pointer that went in and out.

Senior guard Brendan Gruenwald-Schmitz scored 13 points for Badger, and senior forward Bobby Lamparek added 11.
