Elkhorn — A drunken driver who killed a 6-year-old boy and injured five other people in two separate drunken driving crashes Sept. 2 was sentenced today to 20 years in prison.

Scott D. Dragotta, of rural East Troy, also was sentenced to 10 years of extended supervision.

On Highways ES and D, Dragotta crashed his vehicle into another car, but fled the scene at a high rate of speed. Minutes after fleeing the first accident, Dragotta again crashed his vehicle.

Dragotta’s car crashed into another vehicle that was driven by Michael S. Kilar, who is the father of Treyton Kilar.

Treyton, who was 6 at the time of the crash, was taken to the hospital and died as a result of his injuries.

During the sentencing hearing, Dragotta wept as Treyton’s family members talked about his love for life and baseball.

Members of Dragotta’s family, his wife and two children, told the Judge that Scott is a good man who made a terrible mistake.

When Dragotta addressed the court, he cried and apologized for his actions.
