Fifth-grade Central-Denison teacher Carol Nocek was in serious, but stable condition as of Tuesday following a serious two-car accident Saturday morning.

According to Lake Geneva police, at about 11:29 a.m., Nocek’s vehicle had stopped at a sign at the intersection of Dodge Street and Elmwood Avenue. She proceeded through the intersection when she was struck by a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed.

The vehicle was northbound on Elmwood, didn’t stop at the stop sign and crashed into Nocek’s vehicle. She was taken via Flight for Life for treatment of her injuries, which were not specified by police Tuesday.

A 29-year-old Lake Geneva man was arrested at the scene and faces numerous charges, including operating without a license causing great bodily harm. The Wisconsin State patrol and Lake Geneva officers completed reconstruction of the scene. State traffic and drug charges have been forwarded to the Walworth County District Attorney’s Office.

He also faces charges including failure to stop at a stop sign and operating without insurance.

Police would not release the name of either driver. However, the Regional News received information from readers and social media that it was Nocek who was injured in the crash.
